Communication Officer & Dispatcher - (Pay range: $21.55 - $31.04/hr)
Communication Officers receive emergency and routine calls for law enforcement and fire/medical aid agencies, respond to inquiries, and obtain and relay information to appropriate dispatchers or communication centers. Dispatchers process citizens’ requests for police service, provide information to various city and county law enforcement agencies and field police officers, receive and track complaints and track unit status.

Lateral Entry Dispatcher - (Pay Range: $24.37 - $31.04/hr)
For applicants who have at least three years of experience as a dispatcher for a law enforcement agency which utilizes a CAD system.

* * On April 17th, LESA unveiled a new hiring incentive to stimulate recruitment for lateral-entry dispatchers. The enticing hiring incentive includes $5,000 for the new dispatcher, and $5,000 for the LESA employee responsible for recruiting the new dispatcher. Also included in the incentive is a relocation allowance for lateral applicants moving over 100 miles from Pierce County. * *

Information Technology Specialist (Programmer Analyst) - (Pay range: $47,570 - $89,794/yr, 2008 rates)
Programmer/Analysts develop application software, build SQL queries, resolve software bugs, maintain application-based user access, and document systems.

Records Specialist - (Pay range: $20.56 - $24.99/hr)
Records Specialists process and maintain law enforcement reports and records, exchange accurate and timely information by radio between field officers and the records center, and assist with requests for police reports and other information.

Client Services Technician - (Pay Range: $41,662 - $55,848/yr)
Client Services Technicians perform computer technical work by resolving technical questions; providing technical assistance both on the phone and in person; troubleshooting computer application problems; and assisting with on-going maintenance and desktop security. The current opening is temporary, full-time with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.

Grant Writer - (Pay Range: $55,348 - $74,193/yr)
The grant writer will perform analytical work in writing, maintaining, reviewing and coordinating federal and local grant programs and is responsible for researching grant programs, writing funding applications, and coordinating the activities of all grant programs.

Typing Certifications

To apply for some LESA positions, a typing certification must accompany or promptly follow an application submission. These typing/keyboarding certifications may be obtained at most community colleges, vocational and technical schools, employment agencies and temporary services throughout the United States. General Hiring Process

Due to the confidential nature and demands of our positions, candidates must possess an exemplary personal history and pass a background examination, a self-assessment survey, an oral interview, a polygraph examination and a psychological evaluation as part of the pre-conditional offer of employment. Some positions are covered by a labor agreement.
